ナカヤマノウジョウは熊本・八代で、伝統文化のイグサを守る農家です。先人たちが守ってきた１３００年の”想い”を大切に、４代続く伝統的な製法にこだわり、自然本来の生命力と香りをもつ、国産イグサを育てています。
田畑には、イグサに最適な環境を整え、手間ひまを惜しまず、丁寧な手しごとを重ねることで、色・香り・肌触りのすべてにおいて“ほんとうのゴザ”の品質を追求しています。
Nakayama Nojo is a farmer in Yatsushiro, Kumamoto, who preserves the traditional culture of Japanese rushgrass.We are growing domestic igusa with its natural vitality and fragrance, using the traditional production method that has been followed for four generations, valuing the 1300 years of “passion” preserved by our ancestors.The fields are carefully cultivated to provide the optimum environment for igusa, and the color, fragrance, and texture are all carefully handcrafted in pursuit of the “true Goza” quality.

八代の大地と球磨川の水、そして人の手のぬくもりで育ったイグサは、空気を浄化し、湿度を整え、部屋に心地よい香りをもたらします。
新しい畳の香りに、思わず深呼吸したくなる──そんな感動を、もっと多くの人に届けたいと思っています。
Igusa, grown on the Yatsushiro earth, in the water of the Kuma River, and with the warmth of human hands, purifies the air, regulates humidity, and brings a pleasant fragrance to the room.The aroma of new tatami makes you want to take a deep breath – we hope to bring this kind of excitement to more and more people.

イグサの力と自然のリズム－The Power of Igusa and the Rhythms of Nature－
私たちのイグサ栽培の要は、自然のリズムに沿った育て方。冬に苗を植え、春に芽を出し、夏に一気に成長し、厳しい日差しのなかで刈り取られる。このリズムを壊さずに育てるからこそ、丈夫で香り高い、イグサが育ちます。
The key to our igusa cultivation is to grow it according to the rhythm of nature.Seedlings are planted in winter, sprout in spring, grow all at once in summer, and are harvested in the harsh sunlight.This rhythm is the reason why our igusa grows strong and fragrant.
手作業による品質管理－Manual quality control－
収穫後のイグサは「泥染め」し、低温乾燥でゆっくりと乾燥。色・艶・香りを損なわないよう、仕上げています。乾燥させたイグサを、専用の織機で経糸に織り込んだ後も、織りムラ、折れ、色ムラなどを手作業で丁寧にチェック。大量生産にはできない“イグサの個性”を生かす、私たちのこだわりです。
After harvesting, the igusa is “mud-dyed” and slowly dried at low temperatures.The color, luster, and fragrance are preserved.After the dried Igusa is woven into warp yarns on a special loom, the warp yarns are carefully checked by hand for irregularities in weave, folds, and color.This is our commitment to making the most of the “individuality” of Igusa, which cannot be achieved through mass production.

そんな強い思いで、今日もガムシャラに、イグサと向き合っています。
We are a Japanese rushgrass farmer in Yatsushiro City, Kumamoto Prefecture, who is striving to pass on the charm of domestic rushgrass to the future.
The farmer’s motto is to cultivate Japanese rushgrass in a way that is friendly to nature and people.He wants the younger generation to know the benefits of Japanese rushgrass, so we share our daily challenges and the reality of farming on SNS and YouTube.We want to leave the disappearing Japanese rushgrass to the future.
